Their mission is: “Strive to maintain the highest level of integrity and personal commitment to our practice members health care needs. To use the latest chiropractic information and technology to serve as many people as possible with the highest quality of chiropractic care.”
Dr. Outten became involved with Carolina Roller Girls when he asked a client in 2005, who he was treating at the time, why she had some bumps and bruises that he noticed during treatment. She explained to him that she played roller derby for Carolina Roller Girls and explained what roller derby bouts and training entailed. Dr. Outten was “very interested for I’d never seen roller derby in my life.” He was intrigued and asked the skater if he and his family could come out to watch a practice. Upon first viewing of the practice he could tell that his original impression was mistaken of roller derby being more for show rather than a real sport, with real athletes and real injuries. He developed a relationship with CRG and has been treating its skaters ever since. He says, “I enjoy having the Rollergirls as part of the Outten Chiropractic Family. It’s been a pleasure working with them.”

There began the birth of the relationship between Carolina Roller Girls and Outten Chiropractic. For 8 plus years, Dr. Outten and his staff have been graciously treating different skaters with CRG at no charge to the skaters (we all know how broke skaters can be- derby is expensive!) This service is invaluable to CRG and keeps our skaters performing at their best. Dr. Outten looks at each patient holistically and does not perform any treatments without a full evaluation of each individual’s needs. When asked what some of the benefits/reward his practice receives from being a CRG sponsor, Dr. Outten said, “The girls appreciate and see the benefit of Chiropractic Care and refer in their friends, family and co-workers. A referral is the best compliment we can receive.”
Nothing speaks more loudly about how effective Dr. Outten and his staff is with their treatment than personal testimonies.
Skater Elektra Q Tion had a fairly serious injury to her lower back when she fell during her “newbie” training with CRG and had this to say about the care she has received over the years: “Dr. Outten has made it possible for me to skate without pain. I couldn’t even bend over to tie my shoes without pain and after two years of seeing Dr. Outten I’ve had so much more mobility in my neck and back.”
I have even sought care from Dr. Outten for a shoulder injury and he and his staff could not be more welcoming, professional and efficient. One of my legs was longer than the other and a couple of ribs were out of place as well. Many of our skaters stay on a regular maintenance program with Dr. Outten and he always makes room in his schedule for the many misplaced ribs and injuries we incur after bouting, scrimmaging or practice.
Some people may be nervous about seeking treatment of their spinal issues with a chiropractor and have many fears and misconceptions about this alternative medical treatment. When Dr. Outten was asked what the most common misconception of chiropractic care was he had this to say, “The biggest misconception is that we just treat back and neck pain and ailments…that is not true. Chiropractic is so much more.”
One of our own skaters, Trudy Struction had this to say, “I was skeptical about chiropractors all of my life, not only has Dr. Outten helped my entire body but he also has taken the time to educate me about how chiropractic care works. I suffer from extensive carpel tunnel and his adjustments not only allow me to continue with derby but helped with my carpel tunnel as well.”

Carolina Roller Girls could not be more appreciative of this super star sponsor and would recommend anyone and everyone go to Outten Chiropractic & Cary Spinal Decompression Center located in Cary at 401 High House Rd., Suite 110.
Dr. Outten treats small infants to senior adults and often holds informational clinics to keep his patients informed about the latest in holistic care for our bodies. Some of the other ailments his office can treat are: Herniated & Degenerative Discs, Sciatica, Radiculopathy, headaches & migraines, TMJ Disorder/Jaw pain, and Pre and Post surgical problems just to name a few.
