Been missing your Carolina Rollergirls? They’re back at Dorton Arena for the first time since their May victory over North Carolina’s roller derby leagues! Come root for for them on Saturday, September 1st at 3:00pm.
At 3:00, the Carolina Bootleggers face the Cincinnati Violent Lambs. The Boots are coming off of a close loss to the Appalachian Rollergirls that has left them hungry for a solid win. Then again, so are the Violent Lambs, whose last bout was in July, which has left them plenty of time to think about how to pull a win from the claws of their next competitors.
At 5:00, you’ll find out there’s nothing more dangerous than a rollergirl with something to gain. The Carolina All-Stars (8 East) and Cincinnati Black Sheep (7 North Central) aren’t just out to win; they’re out to train. Each team is entering its area’s WFTDA Regional Playoffs this year, and playing the other will be an essential cross-competition opportunity. These teams haven’t bouted one another in years, and both want to prove that their regional ranking is well-earned.
