Carolina Rollergirls Learn All About Beer

On October 6th the Carolina Rollergirls were a part of the World Beer Festival in Durham, NC. This was the first time we were in attendance and we hope to be a part of this amazing event for years to come. Through a developing partnership with All About Beer Magazine (http://allaboutbeer.com/), we were able to spend the day taking part in great beer, a great atmosphere and a whole bunch of great people.

The World of Beer Festival in Durham

All About Beer Magazine knows how to throw a festival! Hundreds of gallons of local and international craft brews were poured for thousands of festival goers. Serving up everything from gator legs to dino wings, tasty treats from local restaurants and food trucks kept everyone from getting hungry. For the less adventurous eaters, like me, there were some nice, old-fashioned tacos and pizza.

There may have been great food, but his suspenders say what this festival was really all about!

With so many people in attendance, we were able to spread some Carolina Rollergirl love and gratitude. Derby girls like to talk derby and we spoke with fans about today’s roller derby, what a highly competitive sport it has become and shared CRG’s success.

Even at the World of Beer Festival, these dedicated ladies are staying hydrated!

We got to make some new friends too! Check out the all photos taken with and by our fans as they participated in this great event. Our day was a complete success with an exciting response from the crowd for CRG and roller derby in general.

Despite the claim of her name, Daisy Rage is always about to make friends!

If you were in attendance, then hopefully you remember our back door neighbors Sam’s Quik Shop and Lonerider Brewery over in the main tent. Both Lonerider and Sam’s are sponsors of Carolina Rollergirls and advocates for us having a good time, every time we meet! Special thanks to Sumit and the folks at Lonerider for the generous pours and continuous support. A big thank you to John Boy for the escorts to SweetWater, Sierra Nevada and the numerous other brewers we got to meet, but most importantly for those delicious tastes from his donated keg of barley wine from Magic Hat…a divine treat.

While we were making new friends, we had the exciting opportunity to meet Cackalacky, Clear Channel and many others. We look forward to forging new relationships and partnerships with these companies. We love events like World Beer Festival because they make it possible for us to grow our fan base as well as partner with local businesses for future success.

Thank you everyone who came out to the World Beer Festival Durham and stopped by to see us and talk derby. We’ll see you again on November 17th at Dorton Arena for our 2012 season closing bout.
