Bootleggers Versus Appalachian 2015

With 2016 coming to an end, many teams are gearing up for their last interleague bout of the season. The Carolina Bootleggers and the Appalachian Rollergirls did just that Saturday, October 24th. Both teams headed out to the Galaxy of Sports in Kinston, North Carolina to battle it out one last time before the end of their competitive season.

The Boots and ARG have a history of playing each other that goes back a couple of years. They played each other twice before, with the Boots unfortunately losing both times. Despite the past history between these two teams, the Bootleggers were ready to give it their all out on the track. The combination of new skaters, veteran skaters, and one very knowledgeable and supportive coach made for one determined team. Both teams fought their hearts out and the Boots managed to stay in the lead for the majority of the game, but ultimately they lost the bout by 3 points. The final score was 195 – 192.

It all came down to the last jam, and the Appalachian Rollergirls found that extra bit of fight they needed that would eventually result in them winning the game. Choker Face, a skater for the Bootleggers said “although we barely lost, it was still a win because we got to see our skaters use the skills they’ve been learning all season out on the track!” Losing aside, the Bootleggers had an amazing time and learned a lot that they intend on incorporating into their practices! They will be giving their competitors a run for their money next season!

If you missed this bout, the Carolina Rollergirls have one more home team bout on Sunday, November 15th at Wheels Fun Park in Durham, so you can see your favorite skaters play one last time before they go on their brief winter break!
