Happy Birthday To Camel City From Fairy Brutal!

Although there are no official activities scheduled for CRG this weekend, our ladies have no plans to take a break! On Saturday, June 19, Carolina Bootleggers Fairy Brutal, Ballista Blockheart, Leatherneck, Sheeza Freak, and Hot Mess Express will head to Greensboro to celebrate the 2nd birthday of the Camel City Thrashers by participating in an invitational bout with our local derby sisters. Come out and support CRG and Camel City and watch some awesome derby while you’re at it!

Still not convinced? Check out this interview with the fabulous Fairy Brutal and we’re sure you will wanna see her dominating the track on Saturday!

Q: What brought you to the Carolina Rollergirls?
FB: I came to a home team bout in the summer of 2005, and fell in love.

Q: What is your favorite aspect of playing roller derby?
FB: All of the great people you get to skate with and against.  I have met the most wonderful people in my derby travels.  I usually leave each bout with new friends.

Q: Who is the biggest supporter in your life of you playing this sport?
FB: Bucket.  He comes to every game.  He very kindly drives a lot to the away bouts.  He puts up with me being all nervous before every bout 🙂

Q: What do you do to pay the bills and buy the wheels?
FB: I work for the State.  I very proudly work for the Department of Agriculture.  I work with some of the nicest people around!

Q: Do you watch other sports?
FB: Hockey, I am big Carolina Hurricanes fan.   I really want learn to hit like Ruutu.

Q: Where have you traveled, and what place did you love the most?
FB: For Derby, I have traveled to Texas, Portland, Las Vegas, Minnesota, Louisiana… and the list goes on and on.   I think my favorite place was New Orleans.  The Tai Chi-tahs played the Big Easy Rollergirls.   We also happened to be there just at the start of Mardi Gras.

Q: Where would you want to travel if given the opportunity?
FB: Belgium. My former team-mate plays with the Gent Rollergirls, and I would love to play her again.

Q: What hobbies do you have when you aren’t at the rink?
FB: Artsy & Crafty things.  I enjoy drawing, sewing, photography, and knitting.

Q: Which events in the Triangle do you enjoy attending every year?
FB: The NC State Fair.   It’s so colorful, and a wonderful place to take photographs.

Q: Tell us about your tattoos.
FB: I have just one.  It’s a Roller Skate with a Fairy wing on it.

Q: What do you like the most about living in the Triangle area?
FB: The list is too long.  But I promise it is all warm and fuzzy.
